She ran the 2 hour at 70% program and she went back to the small gears because that's what she did in Golden Cheetah. Once she got in the 50-17 and pedaled at 80 rpm calibration required 140 watts. Explaining the mathematical relationship between resistance and pedal speed for power just made it worse. To get it to unlock I had to unplug it and shut down Rouvy. As soon as she did the trainer locked up. She had her bike in the 34-27, hit calibrate, and started to pedal slowly. I had never actually watched her try to calibrate the trainer or run it in ERG mode. I may take the bike and computer down there Sunday and see what happens.Īfter a very frustrating morning of arguing with my wife I believe there is nothing wrong with the trainer and the problem was a Gross Conceptual Error on her part on how a smart trainer works. I'll keep you guys up to date as I learn more. They haven't said for sure but they seem to think the same thing I do - the ratchet is toast. I just sent support a picture of the tire and roller engaged. But running the same program with only 2 turns seems to work. If I shift down to compensate all is lost - the resistance on the trainer goes so high I can't turn the cranks. It does fine at a high steady power (like a 2X20) but as soon as it tries to reduce power it alternates between very easy and so hard I can barely turn the cranks. If I calibrate it at full ratchet it still seems to work but ERG mode is flakey. At 2 turns the trainer seems to work fine after calibration in both Rouvy and Golden Cheetah. Right now my wife can calibrate the trainer if she only puts 2 turns on the knob. I've been trading emails with product support all afternoon. TSS is the same, so the calibration fixed the problem and I assume the next time she runs the calibration she will be able to do it. Now that I calibrated the trainer her power between the C1 and the trainer are within a few watts. Her power in Rouvy was much lower than the power in Garmin Connect before the calibration, but she didn't notice because she was so mesmerized by the video that was running - Her only trainer software to that point was Golden Cheetah. She has been riding in "race" mode so the trainer was just setting a resistance and not a power target.
